Burdened with Glorious purpose

Christ, we didn't really keep our promise of keeping this up to date did we?
But well, now that we've announced what we will be cosplaying at stage on facebook, we might as well show progress here!

 Moro & Maru
xxxHOLIC

Since we are hard working as we are writing this, there won't be much text. Just a quick explanation of why we chose these characters.
First of all, xxxHOLIC is a series that we both really like. It has some fantastic values, is drawn in a special way and just plain wonderful entertainment. We weren't able to bring our Granado Espada costumes with us, because it turned out they were from a Korean game, and you have to  make something japanese for the WCS :/ Besides, they would have been way to hot XD
So we searched for something that could have the same feel of fun, magic and mystique as the elementalists, and we just kept coming back to Maru and Moro. So we chose them out of love for the series and the ability to bring some of the mood from our winning skit into it :)

And now to a picture drop :D

So that's it for this time!
Only 19 days to go.... Wow, time has passed so quickly! Let's see if we get to make another entry before we leave to Japan x'D

See you guys!<3

Lively are we

Yes, we are in fact still alive AND working on things! We have just been so busy, that we haven't had the time to post anything here, as we wanted to wait until we had something more than just two pictures.
We have gotten a lot done actually, but mainly on our stage costumes, and those we will be keeping secret for a while still.. so that's why we haven't been able to post something, haha.

But now finally, we can show you our parade costumes~
Yoshu will be Shirley (left) and Samie will be C.C (right). Both characters are from Code Geass, a show we both dearly like! We have wanted to cosplay from it for quite a while, and this seemed like the perfect time to get it done :D

So far we have made the pattern and a test for Shirley, and C.C is almost finished, so we only have pictures of C.C so far. Oh and for once a picture of Samie working on her costume, she is usually behind the camera!
But here you go, have a picture spam~

So here you have it :D Crown progress for Peach, gems for Daisy and Peach, unstyled C.C wig with bandana, skirt for C.C in the making and Peach wig being styled :D
... and one VERY ugly picture of Samie watching Merlin while working, cause Yoshu do not understand "Don't include me, only my hands".
The plans we had for Peach and Daisy didn't go to our favor, as the bigger costumes for them we had chosen turned out to be waaay too hot, so we will be making their original dresses, so that we don't die from the heat in Japan. Like we won't do that anyway.

Hope it won't take us as long to update here again ~

Press costumes

So we have given it some thought, and seeing as this seems the costumes we are working on most right now we could show them to you!
And we are totally copycats of team Australia who have just announced theirs, hurhur! (Follow them HERE

But without further ado, here is our press costumes;

Now we won't be doing exact these two versions of them, but you will see what version it is later on in our progress! (If we can find some decent pictures of them.)
We started out with the earrings for these costumes, and as with most of the stuff we make, our first try wasn't really satisfying. But we came up with another idea to do them, and that worked out so nicely!
First try, FIMO clay and thin foam as background.

Final try, Styrofoam ball cut in half and covered with paperclay.
Now we only need to make them a bit more shiny, and then it's perfectly done~

Samie have started with her umbrella and is almost done.
.. So.. much... pink. But it's quite fun to play with~ But totally had to cut up a beautiful umbrella bought in London for it, buhu!

We also have the wigs, but you won't get to see them until they are styled ;)

Will go back and get some more done now, have a good day!

Still alive are we?

Sir yes sir! We have just been SO busy the both of us with exams and school, so we haven't gotten that much done on our costumes. BUT we have gotten the thumbs up from Japan on our costumes so now we can really get started!
.. Or well we are leaving for London tomorrow and staying there a week, but when we get back the work will really start! Samie has gotten some of her wigs, and Yoshu has gotten one. Almost every wig is going to be a pain in tha butt, and we are eager to get started on the styling!
Here is one of Samies (; Or part of it.
We will be showing you what our plan for the parade is when we get started on them! :D YaaaaaaAAAAAy. Ehe.

Hope to have more exciting things to show soon!

Merry Christmas!

There, now we won't forget to say that. This post will be very briefly, as we don't have that much to show yet xD
We are waiting to get our "yes" from Japan on our costumes, and using our waiting time to practise and try out things!

~*~

We have made our first coloring try outs for one of the costumes, and already learnt a lot on that part! xD .. F.example not to drop your fabric into the dye - Herpy Derpy.
So that explains the really ugly transition you see in the grading right now, that will not be there on the final product, we can tell you that!

oooh the massacre!

Getting rid of the evidence xD (My parrents hate when we dye fabric BD)

Creepy foot! Our bathroom ghost, hurhur! (Or just Yoshu... who knows!)

The purple color is way darker here than irl.
And that is what we cans how for now! .. Not much, we know - but we thought that something was better than nothing :D

Hello peeps! Seeing as we won't have any progress of new costumes for the next months because of school, we thought we would share with you guys, some of our progress on our "Granadp Espada" adventure!

Hairpiece for Yoshus character, with beautiful roses she made!
Here you see our elements in progress! We had always wanted to try and dye something, and finally we had the chance as we decided that we wanted to make these silk... veil thingies, to act as water and fire in our act. We went and got the fabric and got started with the dyeing! Or actually Samie did, and then halfway trough the first one called Yoshu for help x'D We tried to do a gradient coloring on both of them, most visible on the fire piece! It was a fun experience, and we are sure to give it a go another time :)!

In our act we had the book of four elements, and for did Samie made the pages. One of them is actually written seriously and makes sense, were as all the others have quotes from our friends, movies or songs. Oh and lots of statements like "David Tennant is hot". Cause seriously, you need to have that in your act somehow!

The look of the pages was achieved by adding water to them first, smudge it all over and then with a brush, apply coffee to it all and play round with it. This gives the pages a torn and old look! Aaaand makes it smell like coffee forever.

This is the jewelry that goes on Yoshus dress in the front. It took some time to figure out how we wanted to make this, so it looked as much as the picture as possible, but in the end we really like the result!
It goes on the dress with some small "hooks" (not sure what they are called in English xD) And doesn't really weigh anything :D

And then a single picture of one of the roses, again from Yoshus dress XD All the ribbons that has stripes on both of our dresses, are made of multiple ribbons put together by hand ^^ Including Samies hat and big ass bow xD

So sorry this isn't the most exciting post, we have figured out some of the costumes for Japan and can't wait to get started in January!

See you soon, hopefully!
